​​​​Born and raised on Canadian Air Force Bases in Germany and 

Cold Lake, Alberta, Anita Wilson was a child when she began designing and sewing her first figure skating costumes and her own clothes at the age of eight.
 

Later, growing up in Toronto, Anita honed her skills by studying Fashion Design at George Brown College and soon after, launched her Couture Design business. Many locals flocked to her door to acquire her one-of-a-kind designs, ranging from swimsuits, costumes, full wardrobes and Wedding gowns. She was invited to participate in many fundraising fashion show events through the Canadian Cancer Society and also supported the Miss Brampton Pageant winner with a custom gown for the Miss Canada Pageant. Ultimately, she decided to focus on a unique approach to Bridal Design, creating themed wedding gowns and attire for a private local and international clientele under her label: AWE (Anita Wilson Enterprises). These designs were proudly campaigned at Toronto's Bridal shows and in Wedding Bells Magazine in Canada and Wedding Dresses Magazine NYC distributed world wide.

 

During her travels through Europe and around New York City, in search of opulent fabrics, laces and findings, Anita was awestruck with the beauty of historic architecture stunningly juxtaposed to modern design. The incredible energy, sense of style, rich melange and people with a zest for living life to the fullest added new layers of interest and inspires her design work to this day.
 

Headquarters for AWE was an industrial studio loft space in an old toy factory in Toronto's east end. With help from an architect friend and other friends, Anita designed and built the raw space by hand. Bridal clients visiting the studio were captivated with the finished space, so much so, that one client asked her to decorate the wedding venue, and later to Remodel and Decorate her new, builder basic home. This ignited a passion that fuelled a new career and business focus for Anita Wilson, who owned and operated Ana Teran Interiors (Ana Teran) for over 20 years.

In 2021 Anita decided to reclaim her roots and rebrand the business name to Anita Wilson Design, continuing to offer the same services and welcoming new and repeat clients.
